Chanel Went Underground, but Came Out on Top

Chanel went underground this season, literally, and Matthieu Blazy turned a forgotten New York subway platform into the most unexpectedly glamorous runway of the year and I’m totally here for it!! Sure, I wasn’t physically there, but spiritually I was front row…logging in remotely to document and give my full unsolicited opinions (complete delulu energy).

From the pics I’ve seen, the whole scene felt like high fashion had slipped into the veins of NYC, breathing in tile walls, steel beams, flickering lights, and that unmistakable urban hum. Blazy didn’t glamorize the grit; he elevated it, letting the models drift through the space like real commuters, except dipped in tweed, sequins, capes, and that signature effortless Chanel air. It was the kind of show that didn’t just present clothes, it was a whole vibe, presenting the whole “lived-in” lifestyle of New York.

Blazy’s eye for “luxury that feels lived” was the heartbeat of the night. Classic Chanel silhouettes walked with downtown swag, blending vintage romance with city-girl practicality. The “I ❤️ NY” sequins, the sweeping coats ready to catch the wind of an incoming train, the meticulous ateliers’ handiwork glowing under subway bulbs making the high fashion world a bit relatable and disarmingly “human”. It was couture made for the everyday woman who you know…has a life.

Blazy delivered a reminder that fashion doesn’t need palaces to feel powerful. Sometimes it just needs a platform, a city, a moment and suddenly the everyday becomes magic.
