How I’d Style a Luxy Tom Girl
Effortless. Sporty. Expensive without trying too hard. There’s something elite about a girl who dresses like she could hop on a flight rn, grab an oat milk matcha, and still outdress everyone in sneakers and a hoodie. This has truly alaways been my vibe, especially after popping out two humans. The tom girl aesthetic isn’t about being overly polished, it’s about balance. Feminine, but relaxed. Streetwear, but elevated. Casual, but clearly curated. Think oversized hoodies with jean shorts. Vintage denim with sculptural jewelry. A baseball cap thrown on like an afterthought, but somehow making the whole look feel cooler.
So let’s start from bottom to top. I’m styling my luxy tom girl in fun sneakers that are anything but basic. Chunky sneaks, retro vibes, small details and mixed texture. My current favs are the Jacquemus x Nike collab sneakers, Off White BRB shoes and as always, the Sandro flame shoes. Working my up to the “bottoms” (haha), I envision warobe of tailored jean shorts, cargos, loose wide legged jeans, and even boxer-inspired shorts. Lululemon, Skims, and Quince are my fav go-to stores when searching for a good pair. Nothing skin-tight unless it’s intentionally balanced with an oversized top.
Speaking of tops, tom girl aesthetic lives on basics. A fitted muscle tank. A washed crewneck. An oversized hoodie. A zip-up thrown over shorts. That’s the uniform. The key is layering slim and oversized pieces together so the outfit still has shape. An oversized pink hoodie with tiny biker shorts feels cool because it contrasts. A fitted tank with oversized cargos feels intentional. Nothing should feel overdone.
Now we’re moving to my favorite part, the accessories. This is wear I cateogrized jewelry, hats, purses etcs. I love playing with impactful and maximalist jewelry with a minimal outfit. I’m not saying to over-accessorize with a bunch of shit, but every piece looks curated: layered chain necklaces, mixed metals, chunky earrings or a ear stack, and stacked rings. Jewelry is what takes a hoodie from “running errands” to “she has good taste”.
I personally love baseball caps, especially when I’m on a no-hair wash day.A good baseball cap changes the entire energy of an outfit. It gives: off-duty/ I just threw this on. The “salty” baseball cap in green (that I pinned above) is from Target and so so cute.
So let’s talk about the best for last, the handbag. A tom girl isn’t carrying a tiny impractical mini bag. Crossbodies. Belt bags. Mini backpacks. Hands-free bags make the outfit feel modern, sporty, and expensive in a quiet way.
